This is a good example of direct and indirect marketing working together.Ĥ. However, no matter how many times you display your web sight address or phone number, people will not remember it until you’ve spent tens of thousands of dollars! But if you spend a few hundred dollars in these ads and support it with driving your web page to the first page of the search engines, you will have far greater success. This type of marketing only grabs the attention of a potential buyer for a few seconds and requires several appearances to have any sticking power. For example:Ī form of direct marketing would be television ads. One is far less effective without the other. Indirect marketing supports Direct marketing. Understand Direct and Indirect marketing. Minimize that territory as much as possible so you can get the maximum profits the region will allow for your services and/or products.ģ. Know the environment of your business and the territory you want to work in. It is far more difficult to sell based on quality than price but allowing your price to be dictated by a competitor can and will put you out of business! If you want to reach the high margin low volume customers, turn to the upper middle class and rich with your product. Remember, they need servicing too, but you will be in competition with other people who can sell only on being lowest priced. If you want high volume with low margins, reach out to the cost-conscious customers. Research the various means of reaching those customers. Are you looking for high volume and low margins or high margins and low volume? Either is OK if you design your company for one or the other and tailor your marketing to people who meet those demographics.Ģ. The point is to tailor your marketing plan to get the maximum marketing miles available and to fill your tank with good customers and not energy sucking, engine depleting customers.Ī few tips on developing an effective marketing plan:ġ. Remember, bad gas causes problems with an engine! Unfortunately, you have to fill the tank before you find out if the gas is good or bad. Marketing companies have the same gimmick! If you use their service, they will make provisions for you to pay first at the pump! It is important to have proper working capital to invest your money in the areas you need to and not depend on a sub-standard company to provide a sub-standard product. Many gas stations trap you with their ability to finance your needs through company specific credit cards. Time and materials have a fixed price and is usually linear in proportion to the final asking price. Now how can you have the most refined fuel at the lowest price? That is an oxymoron! Nothing can require more work or processes and be reduced in cost. Every gas station claims they have the cleanest fuel and, in most cases, the cheapest price. That’s a tough question and I believe the answer is through research and trial and error. Gas stations are on every corner, but which one should you buy from?
